What Your Tuition Makes Possible

New degree programs

Since 2006 UT Dallas has launched many new academic programs to make sure our students are competitive after graduation.

Computer Engineering
This degree trains computer engineers to satisfy the design and development needs of both local and state industry, as well as prepares them to be innovators and policy makers.

Materials Science and Engineering
Materials science and engineering involves the study of advanced materials, including metals and their composites, polymers, silicon and bio-material, and their possible uses in new and sophisticated applications.

Mechanical Engineering
The new mechanical engineering curriculum is expressly tailored to the needs of the modern mechanical engineer, providing instruction in micro-thermodynamics, micro-fluidics and other areas that will be essential for the 21st century.

Geospatial Information Sciences
UT Dallas offers one of the nation's first doctorate degrees in geospatial information sciences – an important, fast-growing new field that melds data collection, mapmaking and spatial analysis.

Finance
The new Master of Science degree in Finance is designed for students with or without previous educational background in finance. Candidates can choose from one of four concentrations: Financial Analysis, Financial Management, Financial Risk Management, and Financial Engineering.

Supply Chain Management
The new Master of Science in Supply Chain Management explores the key issues associated with the design and management of industrial supply chains, including methods for improving supply chain operations by lowering costs, speeding delivery, improving quality and expanding variety.

Political Science
The Ph.D. in Political Science provides a rigorous, sharply focused disciplinary program with strong multidisciplinary links. The recent Master of Arts in Political Science — Constitutional Law Studies serves the interests and needs of students who want an intellectually rigorous legal education as preparation for law school while a Master of Arts in Political Science — Legislative Studies offers pre-professional instruction for students interested in positions as legislative staff, political consultants, or other careers in professional politics.

Biotechnology
One of the first such degrees offered by any university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, biotechnology is “applied biology” – using living organisms to make or modify products, run processes or improve plants and animals.

Electrical Engineering and MBA
Through a joint program, students are able to earn a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration degree.

Global Leadership EMBA
UT Dallas has launched three new post-graduate certificate programs designed to help participants learn, understand and then lead—at the global level—in the disciplines of market development, strategy, technology-based operations and human resources.
